At the first shoot of the Rangeless Riders, the event was run by seven Cowboys with twenty targets.  We shot five stages in early February 2002 and had a turnout of 54 shooters.  Our event was a success and we've kept growing from there.

We've come a long way since our inaugural event, but what I noticed as a significant sign of our progress was last November when several of our lady shooters arrived at our monthly match all wearing bright red straw hats with purple feathers in them.  They called themselves, "The Rangeless Riders Red Hat Auxiliary".

The Ladies Auxiliary was born at the October 2006 Show-Me Shootout in Branson, MO.  Details as to the organization's creation are sketchy at best.  The only information that the ladies will disclose that it has something to do with an extended wine tasting tour of southern Missouri and that whatever happened in Branson...stays in Branson.

Regardless of the guarded circumstances of this organization's establishment, their contributions to our local Cowboy Action Shooting community speak for themselves.  On the home front of our won club, our ladies have assumed the responsibility of scorekeeping, book keeping, and provide very tasty lunches for a hungry bunch of cowpokes when our club's cook has the day off.  Their contributions also include acquiring prizes and managing raffles and draws to raise funds for the Rangeless Riders, other causes, and decorating for the annual Christmas banquet.

While the above mentioned activities are respectable enough, these ladies have a much more note worthy direction.  In 2007, these ladies sponsored two charity Cowboy Action Shooting events.  Their first event was targeted toward assisting a young SASS member and Boy Scout to fund his Eagle service project, and more recently raised funds for another young SASS member, bound to a wheel chair, to build a ramp onto the back of her house.

With all of these activities occupying the time of these ladies, it seems a wonder that they ever find time to shoot.  To the contrary, the fact that each and every one of them does shoot is one of their more striking qualities of this organization.
